Cirque du Soleil—La Nouba.

Fodor's Review:

This surreal show by the world-famous circus company starts at 100 mph and accelerates from there. Although the ticket price is high compared with those for other local shows, you'd be hard-pressed to hear anyone complain. The performance is 90 minutes of extraordinary acrobatics, avant-garde stagings, costumes, choreography, and a thrilling grand finale that makes you doubt Newton's law of gravity. The story of La Nouba—derived from the French phrase faire la nouba (which translates to "live it up")—is alternately mysterious, dreamlike, comical, and sensual. A cast of 72 international performers takes the stage in this specially constructed, 70,000-square-foot venue. The original music is performed by a live orchestra that you might miss if you don't scrutinize the towers on either side of the stage, which is a technical marvel in itself, with constantly moving platforms and lifts. A couple of hints: call well in advance for tickets to improve your chances of getting front-row seats (there are four levels of seating) and hire a babysitter if necessary—admission is charged for infants.

  • Cost: Front and center $121.41 adults, $96.92 children under 10; Category 1 seats (front sides) $105.44 adults, $84.14 children under 10; Category 2 seats (to the side and the back) $86.27 adults, $69.23 children under 10; Category 3 seats (to the far sides and very back) $69.23 adults, $55.38 children under 10
  • Open: Performances Tues.-Sat. 6 and 9PM
