Why We Like It

The spacious and comfortable rooms have great views, the location is central, the price is right, with no hidden fees, and the vibe is young Harry Potter-obsessed techies. What's not to love?

Fodor's Expert Review

With a hard-to-miss giant ball perched on top of its 20-story round tower, this hotel on the north end of International Drive is visible for blocks, and has a contemporary atmosphere, thanks to the clean, airy design of the lobby and guest rooms. In a clear bid for tech-savvy guests, the "living room" portion of the lobby has a big-screen TV and free computer workstations, and there's free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, a bar with big-screen TV, as well as a hot tub and cabanas in the pool area. Rooms feature large flat-screen TVs; those on upper floors have microwaves and fridges.

Room

Request a room on a higher floor and you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the Orlando area, and if you are on the west side of the hotel, a view of Hogwarts and the Gringott's dragon. Spacious rooms feature the Sheraton Four Comfort Bed™, with white duvet style bedding. Subtle windowpane plaid carpets are topped with attractive modern furniture, including a work space with ergonomic chair. Other amenities include a flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, coffee-maker, and water.

You Should Know Noise can be an issue, especially if you have a room with an adjoining door, or are near the elevators.

Bathroom

This basic white-tiled bathroom has a shower/tub combination and the vanity has ample counter space for all your toiletries.

Lobby

The lobby is simple and modern, with tiled floors, dark wood reception desks and a small seating area, next to a table with computers for guests to use. A coffee bar, handy ATM and ticket desk complete the picture.

Pool

The small pool has ample lounge chairs, a few umbrellas and a kid’s splash area off to one side.

Gym

A narrow room lined with mirrors, the fitness center has treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes. Free weights, balance balls and mats are at one end.

You Should Know The limited amount of space makes using the mats a bit difficult.

Dining

Choices are limited to The Tropical Palms, open for breakfast and dinner, serving American cuisine and very family-friendly, and The Tropical Breezes Pool Bar, which is open for poolside dining for lunch and dinner.

Tip International Drive, right outside the door, has dozens of restaurants, and you can reach them easily on the I-Ride Trolley. If the on-site restaurants don't please you, there are places within walking distance that will.

Drinking

Oasis Lounge is open for drinks when the pool bar is closed because of inclement weather, and The Tropical Palms serves local and craft beers.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel offers free, scheduled shuttle service to Universal Studios, Magic Kingdom and Epcot, and the I-Ride Trolley transports guests to the varied entertainment, dining and shopping areas on International Drive. The park shuttles can be crowded and you may have to wait. Warning! Even though reviews say Universal is within walking distance, that's as the crow flies. That .9 miles consists of freeways, highways, insane traffic and confused pedestrians. Don't walk, use a ride share or taxi if you don't want to wait for the shuttle to Universal. Alamo car rental is located at the hotel, if you decide you want the independence of a car. But remember, parking at Universal or Disney is $20 a day.

Restaurants

The north end of International Drive, where the hotel sits, is home to a few chain restaurants. But I-Drive 360 (9-minute drive), an entertainment and dining complex, is home to Tapa Toro, a Spanish restaurant famous for tapas and paella; and Yard House,a sports bar with American food and craft beers. Pointe Orlando (11-minute drive)is home to dozens of restaurants, including The OceanAir Seafood Room, where seafood is king; Capital Grille, a classic chop and steakhouse; the atmospheric Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar.

Bars

International Drive features more places to have a drink than you could visit in a week, and the I-Ride Trolley or a ride-sharing service will transport you to and from them safely for a very reasonable price. Some outstanding spots include Mango's Tropical Cafe (9-minute drive), which offers an evening of Latin dancing and live revue shows; Miller's Ale House (10-minute drive), a casual pub with dozens of beers on tap; and Blue Martini (11-minute drive) a sophisticated martini bar at Pointe Orlando.
