Animal Actors on Location!

  • Amusement Park/Water Park

Fodor's Review

Animal shows are usually fun – and this one is better than most thanks to an arkful of animal stars. The tricks (or behaviors) they perform are mostly audience-participation segments, which makes it entertaining for young and old alike. You'll see birds, roosters, pigs, parrots, otters, ducks, dogs, and a skunk – and that's in just the first two minutes. Dogs demonstrate a range of thespian actions you've seen performed in movies and on television; the

parrot from Evan Almighty (and Ace Ventura, Pet Detective) has a knack for plucking cash from the outstretched hand of an audience member; and an orangutan seems the simian equivalent of Jerry Lewis as it plays opposite a straight-man trainer. The lineup of animals may vary, but the variety of scenes makes it like seeing several shows in one. Best of all, these are some of the cutest actors ever to hit the stage. For people with disabilities: The theater is equipped for assisted-listening devices and is wheelchair accessible. Some shows include a sign language interpreter. Come early for a good seat.

Go place to rest the dogs

This is one of the first working attractions at universal and offers a very good live animal show featuring talented animal actors. It is a great place to hit in the afternoon when the sun is the hottest because it is under shade. We were signifantly sunburned and tired by midafternoon and the animal planet show was a great little oasis. If you sit near the front of the show you have a chance to be choosen to actually participate in the activities.
