Fodor's Review

With a style that developers like to say is circus magnate John Ringling's realized dream, The Ritz is appointed with fine artwork and fresh-cut flowers. Its marble-floored hallways are softened with plush Oriental rugs. Rooms have marble bathrooms, and private balconies with views of the bay, the marina, or the downtown skyline. A private 18-hole Tom Fazio–designed golf course is 12 miles northeast of the property on the Braden River; guests can also lounge at the beach

club three miles away on Lido Key. A Victorian-style spa and guest-and-members-only beach facility on Lido Key, about 4 miles away, make this city resort full-service. As far as dining goes, Jack Dusty serves creative local seafood dishes alongside handcrafted cocktails, and Bayview Burger Bar offers all-American favorites as well as unforgettable panoramic views of the gulf.

Best option in Sarasota area (nothing else comparable around though). Typical old-world Ritz charm upon entry, gracious welcoming, freshly decorated and lit lobby. Breakfast at Verrona was solid each morning, strongly recommend. Service all around hotel was great at times, but mediocre at times. Rooms appear tired. I mean, with all the cash these places take in, what does it take to get new rugs? To fully get your money's-worth, please take advantage

of access to the Ritz Beach Club, via ten-minute shuttle that leaves every half-hour. Beautiful pool area, beach area, lavish locker-room facilties, elegant yet casual dining room with great sunset views. Should have brought a sleeping bag here now that I think about it. If not, the pool at the hotel is fine, it's quiet, but just one attendant around. Overall, nice place, nice people, for the most part good service, but dont expect to be blown away by the hotel, and by the area.

I felt like a fool

When I checked out of there, I felt foolish that I spent that much money on a hotel that is, at best, mediocre. The front desk couldn't break a $10 bill. Come on! And no apologies for poor service, rude waiters and fair food. You got me once, Ritz-Sarasota. You'll not do it again.

Service is Lacking

I have stayed at many Ritz Carltons and this property is very nice. However, the service is lacking. When you pay close to $500 a night you don't expect to have to carry your own luggage. Do not get a suite without a view, as we had a nice suite but faced the roof of an adjacent building. Better management is needed to make this place worth the cost.

First Class All The Way!

We have stayed at other Ritz-Carltons, but this one got first place in our books for outstanding facilities and service. Never have we (including our children) been greeted so warmly anywhere else, and the hotel itself was beautiful and excellent in every way. The only down-side is proximity to the beach; they have a nice outdoor pool near water, but one must drive (or be ferried) a few miles to the beach (a great one, at that). We loved this hotel,

and would go back in a second anytime we are in the area.
