Downtown St. Petersburg gets an infusion of vibrancy from BayWalk, a shopping, dining, and entertainment mall in a square-block complex incorporating California mission-style design and courtyard areas lined with trendy eateries, bars, shops, and a 20-screen movie theater. It's best for adults to stroll the plaza and restaurants in the afternoon and early evening, since teenagers overtake BayWalk at night.

Due to the recession, much has closed or is closing in Bay Walk. It's definitely not the vibrant place it was a couple of years ago. Skip it and spend more time at the beach.
