The menu is as lively as the entertainment at this popular restaurant-nightclub. Southern vittles are the house specialty—they're reminiscent of Sunday dinner at an aunt's house. The Brunswick stew (chicken mingling with butter beans and veggies in tomato broth) is close to perfection. The pulled-pork BBQ plate is a slow-cooked Southern essential, and the obligatory country-fried steak does not disappoint. Sides include corn bread, cheese grits, black-eyed peas, and collard greens. Decorated in flea-market chic, Stumps takes food quite seriously. Friday and Saturday nights after 9 you'll find a range of acts playing soul and rock, including Jimmy James & the Velvet Explosion, a six-piece band that relives Elvis, ABBA, Motown, and KC & the Sunshine Band.
