Tampa Museum of Art Review

Housed in an exquisitely designed new building, the Tampa Museum of Art is emblematic of the city's efforts to revitalize the downtown riverfront. The facility overlooks Curtis Hixon Park, the towering minarets of the University of Tampa, and the Hillsborough River. The museum's 66,000 square feet of gallery space displays an impressive permanent collection of 20th- and 21st-century sculpture as well as Greek and Roman antiquities. Five additional galleries host traveling exhibits ranging from the classics to some of the most prominent artists working today. Also notable is Sono, the museum's cafe, which is operated by Mise en Place, one of Tampa's top restaurants.

    OK small museum

Another small art museum, about on a par with the modest sized analog in St. Pete. Modest collection, not really a must-see. Nice porch area out back with view of the river. Overpriced for what it is.
