Fodor's Expert Review Locale Market

$$ St. Petersburg Contemporary

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

The brainchild of celebrity chefs Michael Mina and Don Pintabona, this unconventional farm-to-table food court in the new upscale Sundial St. Pete shopping and dining complex allows you to choose your own culinary adventure. Multiple stations are scattered throughout the two-story culinary fortress. You can order a burger at one, sushi and seafood at another, gourmet olives at another, and fresh baked goods at yet another. There's a butcher as well as seafood and cheese counters, among others, if you want to buy ingredients to cook at home. Downstairs the walls are lined with gourmet grocery items you'd typically find at a health food store. Upstairs is the wine bar, which also features craft beer and innovative cocktails made from wine, aperitifs, and fresh herbs (there's no hard liquor here as yet). As for seating, if it's nice out you can opt for outdoor seating overlooking the upscale Sundial complex, or there are a limited number of tables inside. A lot of locals like to stop here for a quick bite before they head to the movies; Sundial's 20-screen theater is nearby.
