On the shore of Kings Bay, this two-story plantation-style resort is on 232 acres near nature preserves and rivers. Although the resort's exterior looks like that of a huge Southern mansion, the rooms are more comfortable than palatial. Renovations in 2012 gave the whole place a more modern yet casual look. The spa offers extensive services, and the restaurant's creative, Southern-inspired fare deserves mention (think shrimp and grits or boiled peanut hummus). This resort's
on-site dive shop has daily snorkeling excursions into the area's two major manatee hubs, Kings Spring and Three Sisters Springs.

I stayed at the Plantation Inn in Feb and had a blast with the Manatees. I plan on going back this summer to play golf. The rooms I was in had been renovated and was very nice for the incredibly low price I paid.

We stayed here in February to see the Manatees. The hotel is being renovated and the wing we were in had new rooms. It was very nice. The rooms were big and comfortable. Best of all, the hotel had a manatee tour company right on property and we got to see a lot of Manatees. It was an unforgettable experience. Of all the places we saw while we were there, this is hands down the best.
