Tampa International Airport (813/870-8700. www.tampaairport.com), the area's largest and busiest with 19 million passengers a year, is served by most major carriers and offers ground transportation to surrounding cities. Many of the large U.S. carriers also fly into and out of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (941/359-2777. www.srq-airport.com). Meanwhile, St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (727/453-7800. www.fly2pie.com), 9 mi west of downtown St. Petersburg, is much smaller and has limited service. SuperShuttle (727/572-1111 or 800/282-6817. www.supershuttle.com) and Blue One Transportation (813/282-7351. www.blueonetransportation.com) provide Tampa International Airport service to and from Hillsborough (Tampa, Plant City), Pinellas (St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach, Clearwater), and Polk (Lakeland) counties. Taxi fares are $15-$25 within 10 mi of the Tampa airport, $2.25 per mile thereafter, and about twice that for Pinellas County.

Amtrak (800/872-7245 or 813/221-7600. www.amtrak.com) trains run from the Northeast, the Midwest, and much of the South into Tampa; the station is at 601 N. Nebraska Ave. Bus service is provided by Greyhound Lines (800/231-2222. www.greyhound.com).
