Don't call it a mall. Call it an "open-air lifestyle center." More than 70 high-end specialty shops are here, as well as a 14-screen theater, Hard Rock Cafe, miniature train, and nautical theme park for kids.

One Bad Apple CAN spoil a whole bunch, and it is mostly designer fru fru anyway!? - ? - 2010-02-14 A store at Destin Commons called "Venetian" had a sign that said "80% off Inventory Sale." We looked at a $5900 chandelier which they offered to sell us for $1180 (80% off). We went home, measured to make sure it would fit, came back the next day to see the same sign, but a new price of $2550. As a courtesy they offered to install it. The owner did
not speak to us, though he did walk by and tell the salesman what to attempt to charge us. The salesman's story was that the guy in charge last night had quoted us a price on a smaller chandelier (which one, I have no clue). The guy from last night no longer worked there according to the salesman (who evidently did not know much about pricing in the store either, I mean he missed by 200%!! if you believe them). They should have demonstrated cost to us, without us asking, and sold it to us for 80% off, that is the only way they could have made it right. Instead after I told him we would not be paying more than double, he told us "well, you kept your word" meaning we came back. As we were leaving I told him "Well, that makes ONE of us." The owner did not even acknowledge us. In America and much of the civilized world, that is considered inappropriate behavior. I called the mall customer service. The person that answered GUESSED who I was calling about. There are LOTS of stores here, and he guessed, and correctly I might add, that I was calling about Venetian. According to what I have heard the store is known to kick people out (gee, does that mean people are getting angry..... I wonder why?). I am calling Bob Perry the Director of the Mall tomorrow. If he makes any kind of good faith effort to correct this, I will post it here. If not the wife and I have decided there just aren't any other stores at Destin Commons we need to visit. In truth, they are mostly silly designer fru fru anyway.
