The ZOO

Fodor's Review:

The local zoo, about 12 mi east of Pensacola, has more than 1,400 animals and assorted critters, including many endangered species. Kids especially enjoy the petting zoo, where they can touch most every style of livestock on Old MacDonald's Farm. Other attractions include tigers, zebras, and such unusual creatures as African wild dogs and pygmy hippos, and there's a tall platform where you can have face-to-face meetings with giraffes. The Safari Line Limited train runs through 30 acres of free-roaming animals in their natural habitats.

  • Cost: $11.50 (safari train $3 extra)
  • Open: Daily 9-5.
