Unless you sit in the water, you can't dine any closer to the gulf than at this casual beachside bar and grill next to the Gulfarium. Located at the entrance to Okaloosa Island Pier (and within a complex of other nightclubs and restaurants), Angler's houses the requisite sports bar with a million or more televisions (in the elevators and bathrooms even) broadcasting an equal number of sports events. Outside, a volleyball net tempts diners onto the sands. Snack on nachos and quesadillas or sample the fresh-catch dishes such as king crab and prawns, or "Anglers Elizabeth"—a fish filet with shrimp, crabmeat, and hollandaise sauce.

We had a delightful dinner on the enclosed deck. The deck is up one story off the beach providing a great view. As the storm hit, we helped the waitstaff zip up the plastic windows keeping us high and dry. The fried oysters, hush puppies and crab and shrimp parmesan dip were outstanding. The oyster poboy was huge and filled with delicious fried oysters. The food and view were markedly better than Floyd's, a very similar sports bar/restaurant next door.
