Boatyard

Fodor's Review:

The same folks who operate Schooners on the beach side opened this larger, more stylish establishment overlooking a marina on the Grand Lagoon. In fact, with its cool stainless steel, chrome, and cobalt accents at the open-air bar, you may think you've wandered into Miami's South Beach. For starters, try gulf shrimp, gumbo, buffalo shrimp, or Key West conch fritters with hot-pepper jelly and wasabi mayonnaise. For dinner, choose from the five-spice seared tuna, spicy bowtie pasta with shrimp and tasso, or the aptly named Fried Shrimp You Can't Live Without. The coconut-and-plantain-crusted grouper is a knockout, as is the pan-roasted catch with bacon, mushrooms, and grits (this is definitely the South). There are a kids' menu, an extensive wine list, a full bar, and flat-screen televisions, and the upstairs deck area is a great place to get away from the beach for a long, lazy lunch or romantic sunset dinner. Be aware that Boatyard kicks into high gear at sundown, transforming into one of the hottest nightspots in town.
