Grayton Beach

The South Walton area continues along Scenic Highway 30A, the route that hugs the coastline of eastern Walton County. Locals sometimes refer to the area as 30A, and generally, the pace is slower than neighboring Destin and Sandestin/Miramar to the west and Panama City to the east. During the summer season, when traffic along 30A can slow to a crawl, it's probably faster to get from town to town by biking along the 19-mile-long Timpoochee Trail. The evolution of the area over the past few decades has made 30A a magnet for creative and talented artists, purveyors of food and drink, and retailers. While the white sand is a given, there are many other natural wonders—including towering dunes and dune lakes, to be explored and enjoyed.

The neighborhoods of 30A are a shopper's paradise, with small stores and boutiques offering a variety of merchandise you won't see elsewhere. There's plenty of beach-casual clothes and accessories, and the area's many talented artists offer their creative takes in galleries situated up and down the coast.
