Fodor's Expert Review Sheraton Bay Point Resort

4114 Jan Cooley Dr., Panama City Beach, Florida, 32408-8019, USA

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Across the Grand Lagoon from St. Andrews State Park, this expansive property offers quiet away from the madness of Panama City Beach as well as proximity to excellent golf. The tropical-chic feel the resort has been known for was enhanced into a more modern feel during a $30-million renovation that elevated the property to a higher level of quality. Many rooms offer private balconies or patios overlooking the lush grounds and peaceful bay, and visitors can now eat at refreshed restaurants: Tides, Club 19, and numerous seasonal offerings. The golf villas are a mere tee-shot away from the hotel when it is open and are a great option for golfers or families. A meandering boardwalk (which doubles as a jogging trail) leads to a private beach with an open-air bar and water sports. The 12,000-square-foot spa offers massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and waxing.
