We had our wedding at Emerald Grande. All of our family/friends from out of state stayed there as well as myself and my fiance. We had been working with one of their two event coordinators for nine months prior to the wedding. She was very friendly and prompt with responses, but she made the first of many major errors on Emerald Grande's end. She quoted us a price for the rooms for our wedding guests. She gave us this info printed on contracts
and when I asked her if I should go ahead and sign the contract and mail it in to her with our first payment, she said just bring it with me when we would come to meet her for a food tasting (approx 1 month later). About a week before that food tasting, I called the room reservation lady to finalize when our guests could start booking their rooms, and SHE informed me that the rooms should actually be $100.00 more than the original quote PER NIGHT. The Emerald Grande would not honor that first confirmation agreement because we had not yet signed it. We already had too much planning in this, so we still stayed with Emerald Grande. Same event coordinator then almost charged us an extra $440.00 on service charges that should not have even existed. Another error, that we had to discover, and call and have corrected. Then, 1 month and 2 weeks prior to our wedding date, our event coordinator was no longer working at Emerald Grande. We had a new event coordinator assigned to our wedding, and we had to call her to schedule a meeting with her. We chose to do this because of the many mistakes made by previous event coordinator. We met her 1 month prior to the wedding date. Turns out, the menu was all set up incorrectly. The new coordinator also was friendly, and did say she would be onsite for the weekend of our wedding for any help needed, or should any problems arise. I also asked her specifically how much time we would have to start decorating for our wedding because they had told us there would be another wedding there the day before. I had also been told repeatedly up until this time that we could start decorating FIRST thing in the morning on the day of our wedding which would start at 6:30p.m. During this meeting, the event coordinator specifically told my fiance and I that we would have a guaranteed 4-6 hours ahead of time (even if some group or business needed to reserve the ballroom that very morning for a meeting, e.g.) She said that to our faces. NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER, I get a call from my florist asking me if I knew there was a wedding taking place at the Emerald Grande only 4 hours before our wedding. The florist had also called my mom about this and my mom told me she was going to contact our wedding coordinator about this because I was working. The coordinator actually told my mom the following: "Well, I am sorry, but... did it say IN THE CONTRACT that you all would have a gauranteed 4-6 hours prior to decorate???" Wow. So, the wedding before ours at 2:30 til 3:30. That means we have two hours to decorate, get dressed and prepped for wedding, hair/makeup/photos. Fine, whatever. Now I am just nitpicking, I am aware. So let me get to the final issue. DAY OF WEDDING: 12noon- I and bridesmaid leave E.G. to go get hair/makeup done. Groom is at E.G but down in the ballroom helping family set up decorations. 3:15pm I return to E.G, we go to mine and fiance's room to get my dress and groom is there and asks me if I have my wedding ring, because it is not in it's jewelry box. I had kept both of our wedding rings in their own jewelry boxes in a zipped inner pocket in my luggage. I had checked on the rings at least twice every day during our stay there. When my fiance realized I did not have my ring, he immediately called security. Bridesmaid and I go to her room in E.G to put dresses on as our pictures started at 4:00pm. Security came and ran a scanner on the key card entry box on our door. TURNS OUT, a mechanic had come into our room at approx. 1:00pm while we were not there. Other than him, groom and I were the only ones EVER in our room. This was the same kid who had been fiddling with smoke alarms outside both my room, and my parents room. We had wedding gifts everywhere in our room, decorations, wedding dress, so, we think he must have known to check for rings. Only mine was stolen, we think maybe because it was the only one with diamonds in it. So the whole hour and a half before our wedding, my fiance is dealing with security, and the event coordinator (who is FINALLY available during this whole weekend) as she searches through my whole bag, and room... making sure that I have not misplaced it. No ring for our wedding ceremony, my fiance just put my engagement ring back on my finger. (THANKFULLY I was wearing it all weekend). DAY AFTER WEDDING: More talks with security, they say they asked the mechanic about it, of course he denies it. We also file a report with the police. They come to our room and we go over everthing. I call the COO of Emerald Grande. He says he can do nothing for us because we should have put any valuables in the room safe. (I understand that point, but on the other hand, I don't expect for ANY of my belongings to be stolen by employees.. should I lockup everything we packed??) He says "what do you want me to do??" I say "I want my ring replaced. I didn't take it. My fiance didn't take it. You have proof that an employee was in our room during the time period that the ring 'went missing'." He says something along the lines of "well, we will certainly question the employee, but I can't replace your ring or the value of it... we might put in to polygraph the employee, but you should have put valuables in the safe". I basically let him know that I was not satisfied, and then he said this... (keep in mind, this is the GM and COO of Emerald Grande, Legendary Inc.) and he says.. (AND I QUOTE) "Well, what do you want me to do?? Take the mechanic down to the basement and let you and your fiance waterboard torture him??" At this point, I asked him if that was a joke; told him he was unprofessional, and realized that I was completely wasting my time by even trying to speak with him. I told him goodbye and hung up. One more tidbit- after we got back from our honeymoon, my fiance called the head of security at E.G. to follow up with the case... at which point he informed us: THE MECHANIC QUIT TWO DAYS AFTER BEING QUESTIONED ABOUT OUR WEDDING RING. Ironic???? I have never before in my life written a bad review online about anything, but all of this, I just had to share. All of our friends and family have heard this story, alot of them were there for the wedding... and they all agreed with us that we should share our story on any review site we can, so that others will know what might happen, and if it does.,.,. just how poorly it will be "handled". The COO was the worst of all. The second event coordinator was unreliable and unavailable to say the least. Oh wait, I am sorry, she offered us a complimentary breakfast the day after our wedding since the ring was stolen. We did not accept, by the way. The first event coordinator was really helpful but just didn't know what she was doing. The COO should be ashamed: he was sarcastic and unethical; and I am glad I will never speak to him again.
