Conservancy of Southwest Florida Nature Center

Conservancy of Southwest Florida Nature Center Review

On 21 acres bordering a tidal lagoon teeming with wildlife, the center is undergoing a massive makeover with elements opening in stages and a grand reopening slated for April 2013 at this writing. Kids of all ages will love the new Dalton Discovery Center, which will have interactive exhibits on six Florida ecosystems, a sea turtle tank, and other live wildlife exhibits with roughly 150 animals, including a saltwater touch tank. The opening of the wildlife hospital will more than triple the space of the old one, and this time sections will be open to the public, including a nursery viewing area where you can go gaga over baby animals. Guided walks through an endangered gopher tortoise preserve and boat tours (for ages two and older) on the mangrove-bordered Gordon River will depart several times daily. Kayaks will be available for rent. Call or check the website ahead of time to confirm open attractions and hours.
