Naples Nature Center

Naples Nature Center Review

On 14 acres bordering a tidal lagoon teeming with wildlife, the Naples Nature Center is undergoing a massive makeover with elements opening in stages. The new Dalton Discovery Center is expected to open the end of 2012 with interactive ecosystem exhibits, a sea turtle tank, and other live wildlife exhibits and programs. The opening of a new wildlife rehabilitation center in summer 2011 more than tripled the space of the old one and a theater opened to show orientation and other videos. Short trails are marked with interpretive signs, and there are guided walks and boat tours (ages 2 and older) on the mangrove-bordered Gordon River several times daily. Kayaks are available for rent. There may be closures at the Nature Center in late 2011, so call ahead before visiting.
