Fodor's Review:

A circular drive and manicured grounds front this beachfront resort made up of twin 11-story towers. It's delightfully beachy outside, where Marco's crescent of sand reaches its widest, yet the interior is elegant, with many shops and restaurants, a polished marble lobby, and large, plush rooms with good to exceptional water views. The stand-alone spa is massive and ultrapampering. Kids love the zero-entry rock waterfalls pool with slides. The hotel's golf course is 10 minutes away by tram. Pros: terrific beach; top-notch amenities; great spa. Cons: huge size; lots of convention business; paid parking across the street in uncovered lot.

Hotel is almost finished with a major upgrade and remodel. We were upgraded to a penthouse suite (Marriott Rewards points used for this stay) and had a rooftop terrace overlooking both the gulf and bay side. Very comfortable room in a contemporary island style. Signature restaurant needs some work but was very good. We loved Quinn's on the Beach, a restaurant that has been at this hotel since it first opened in the late 60's.

We stayed there in third week in June for 3 days(Silver and was upgraded). Big wide uncrowded beach. Nice pools and our room had three balconys overlooking pool and Gulf. Little noisy but the glass doors do an excellent job of blocking pool noise if you want to take a nap. Although hotel is basically very clean, we had dustballs and old worn towels. Housekeeping has room to improve. Grounds expertly manicured. It is a large hotel but easy access to everythng. Well located for a 7 minute walk to new shopping center with 4 or so restaurants and theater. As usual with many resorts umbrella fees($18/full day), expensive beach drinks(Bring a small cooler). We will return to take advantage of summer rates. Ipods 10 feet from the edge of high tide.Gulf entry is very shallow and water was 87 degrees in June.
