Fodor's Review:

This waterfront resort anchors the north end of fashionable Gulf Shore Boulevard. The one- and two-bedroom suites are decorated in a clean Art Deco style and have nice touches like fully equipped kitchens with coffee and espresso machines, gingerbread-trimmed patios or balconies, and exquisite gulf views. Have meals by the beachfront pool or in the elegant restaurant in the lobby. You'll also find the small fitness center and business facilities on the same floor. Guests have certain dining and recreational privileges (including golfing) at the Naples Grande Resort, a sister property. Pros: beautiful beach; spacious accommodations; fabulous restaurant. Cons: far from shopping; crowded in by high-rises; no tubs in some rooms.

  • Hotel Details: 97 1-bedroom suites, 28 2-bedroom suites
  • In-room: safe, kitchen, Wi-Fi.
  • In-hotel: 2 restaurants, bars, pool, gym, laundry facilities, beachfront, Internet terminal, water sports, bicycles.
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, DC, MC, V

Just returned from 7 night trip with 2 kids and nanny. While the pool and beach is beautiful, our room was full of sugar ants, lights were out, room service was horrible...we called 3 times because after they cleaned our room they left our breafkast plates until 8:00 at night. We called each morning to ask them to remove our plates and after the second day just put them outside the room where they sat until evening every day. It took 3 hours to get a highchair brought up, room service wouldn't return calls, we asked to check out 1 hour late and were told they were too busy. When we booked I asked if the rooms were remodeled (like photo on website) and was told they were all remodeled, but the 2 bedroom ocean view room we had looks nothing like the rooms on the web. Old kitchen unattractive floors, etc... Our light bulbs never got replaced and the garbage disposal broke the last day. We didn't even bother calling for help. We were in room 420 and our nanny was in 416. We won't go back.

We've heard too many good things about Edgewater for our experience to be the norm but I must say that our recent stay was awful. OK, here goes, we check in around 6:00 pm and receive a room with no working toilet. Next, our King bed was a full. It gets better, then we discover they placed us in a handicap room and the straw which broke our back was my wife used the hair dryer and the fuse blew in one part of the room cutting off all power. We left the next day and checked into another hotel where we were very satisfied and glad we made the switch. I do remember the front desk person's name... it's Marcel. Just one comment Marcel, why us? Stay out of room 416. Two positives, great location and great view of the ocean.
