Fodor's Review

This relic from the 1950s has been restyled into a suave, design-forward, all-suites property with outdoor showers and Jacuzzis in some of the suites. Each unit claims its own design personality, many with an Asian feel. Lush landscaping, a pool surrounded by a sandy "beach" on its own island accessible by a bridge, and lounge chairs at the water's edge lend a spalike vibe; complimentary yoga classes, a Zen garden, and a rock grotto complete the scene. Cool tile-and-terrazzo

floors invite you to kick off your shoes and step out onto your private patio overlooking the gardens and the bay. Breakfast and lunch are served on the waterside terrace.

SAPPHIRE SETTING BUT ZIRCONIUM ROOMS.

Upon arrival, we were shown to our "upgraded" room. So disappointed in just about everything: cheap tile floors and furniture; tiny bathroom badly in need of updating with only one sink and little room for toiletries; dirty curtains, badly painted walls, small, old tv in bedroom, uncomfortable "couch" in living room. The bed was quite comfortable, but comforter cover was placed over a blood stained comforter. Towels were plentiful and of high

quality. Outdoor chairs on balcony covered with nice terry cloth. Balcony jacuzzi a wonderful respite from the Florida heat. Air conditioner filty and thankfully hidden by louvered doors. These units are old and very loud--ones in the rooms below and beside us were heard throughout the nights. Very limited closet space. Dumpsters emptied with great force and noise @ 5 am. Guess the high price of these rooms can be offset by the exquisite surroundings. The hammocks were clean; new towels were set out each day on each lounge chair. Every place to sit or lounge was comfortable and noise free (except for one boat owner who sat in his boat for 2 hours and programmed his GPS while clumsily hitting the boat horn and dropping metal items--chains?) Service everywhere was outstanding. The continental breakfast is served in a beautiful setting and the food is top quality. If the owners dwelt as much on the inside as they did with the outside amenities, then this place would rate 5 stars. Can't compare with other properties, as this is the first visit to the Florida Keys.

A Romantic Getaway

Casa Morada is luxurious, romantic, quiet, secluded, and relaxing. It is a tropical paradise and made for the perfect getaway. Nearby restaurants and other sites, parks, etc. are great, too. This is the place to go for a wonderful vacation with the great Keys atmosphere. Management and staff are very accommodating and personable.

We Loved It!

Great blend between swank, hippie, and european feel here. Definite luxe, but not pretensious at all. Loved the Gardenview building even more than the Seaview, more private, and the inroom jacuzzi was key. Enjoy great personalized service in a unique setting, we'd go back again!

A perfect romantic getaway

Felt like I was in the Carribean - great service, great accommodations, attention to every detail - the staff is great! Reading the paper with a hot cup of coffee overlooking the Florida Bay - can't get much better than that! Check out the pool cabana...great place for a game of friendly backgammon (provided by hotel)

Great Sunset

Undergoing remodeling on the outside in Feb. 2003. No sign on the highway. Directions were to turn at the 4th mailbox. We were kind of surprised at the 'plainness' of the hotel. Terrazo floors had no floor coverings and the sand tracked in was unpleasent on your feet. A small bedside rug would have been nice. Best thing was the sunset. Easy walk to the Lorelei for drinks and dinner. We stayed in a Garden Suite which was about a 50 yard walk

to the pool and gulf. There is no beach, but a raised sandy area behind a raised sea wall. The pool is in this area and the sunset was great. Continential Breakfast was nice. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Stunning

I was a little sceptical about going to the Keys as I usually go to the Carribbean..but found Casa Morada's atmosphere equal to any island resort in the Carribean. The service at the hotel was great and the view of the water was spectacular.
