Fodor's Review:

White tablecloths, subdued lighting, and romantic music give Michaels the feel of an urban getaway. Garden seating reminds you that you are in the Keys. Chef-owner Michael Wilson flies in prime rib, cowboy steaks, and rib eyes from Allen Brothers in Chicago, which has supplied top-ranked steak houses for more than a century. Also on the menu is a melt-in-your-mouth grouper stuffed with jumbo lump crab, veal chop stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto and topped with a mushroom demi-glace, and a variety of fondue dishes (try the pesto pot, spiked with hot pepper and basil). The Hemingway (mojito-style) and the Third Degree (raspberry vodka and white crème de cacao) top the martini menu.

I dined at Michael's for the first time a few nights ago and really enjoyed it. I arrived around 6pm, without reservations (which are suggested) and they were able to seat me. I decided to sit at the bar however, as I wanted to order fondue, which is only served at the bar.

There is both indoor and outdoor seating and the bar is outside, yet under cover. A full dinner menu is served at the bar in addition to about six types of fondue. I opted for the Classic-- which is Gruyere and Emmental cheese with wine and cherry brandy. It was a sizable portion and came accompanied by a variety of items to dip in the cheese, such as carrots, squash, smoked chicken, french bread, pretzel bread and sausage. I enjoyed the fondue a lot. Also, try a Key Lime Pie Martini, which tastes exactly like pie-- complete with graham cracker rimmed glass. Unfortunately, I did not have room for dessert, as I would have liked to have tried the signature chocolate volcano. If you decide to order this dessert, remember it takes 30 min to prepare, so must be ordered in advance.

I loved my meal here and will plan on returning for future visits. They have many delicious sounding items on the menu that I'd love to try.
