Why We Like It
Um, hello, it's an island! That fact alone is pretty darn cool and it affords you certain bragging rights. It's also exclusive, and the service is spot-on every time. Heck, you might even stand taller while you're here because you'll feel so special, even in your flip flops. Just know that Sunset Key Cottages is not for the rowdy crowd, or if you have loud kids, you may be glared at. But for those who are seeking an escape from the noise, and the crowds, the tranquility is a welcome find, and worth every penny.

Looking for a quiet, island getaway that will afford you pampering and privacy? Look no further. Hide out in your upscale cottage or stroll the lovely brick pathways past the tropical flora and fauna to the beach, pool, restaurant, and spa. Most everything else happens off-island, but lucky you, all the craziness you want is a ferry ride away.
You Should Know The resort offers a small number of day passes to guests of Margaritaville Resort and to the public. Passes allow access to the beach and pool.

Room
Cottages are beautifully beachy, and the bedding and robes are extremely comfortable. Full kitchens are completely modern (cottage size determines kitchen size). Features like a Cuisinart coffee maker and Starbucks K-cups make it feel like home. A basket of breakfast carbs and fruit is delivered each morning to your doorstep.
Tip Your cottage will be stocked with a good supply of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options as well as snacks. Eat and drink all you want and it will be added to your bill.
Bathroom
Modern tile, glass enclosed shower, separate tub (in some), Speakman massaging showerheads, and all the bath amenities you need, from shampoo to emery boards, even exfoliating sponges. Smaller cottages have pedestal sinks while large cottages have full vanities.
Tip Key West Aloe supplies the resort’s bath necessities, so stock up!
Lobby
Check in is at the Margaritaville Hotel in Key West. Of course, it's tropical (but tasteful) with dark woods and stone colored tile. Blooming orchids add a burst of color. Here, your luggage will be wrapped in plastic for the boat ride to the island.
Pool
Curves are in, and this pool’s got ‘em, along with plenty of chaise loungers. An entire grove of palm trees surrounds the area, and orchids and other flowering shrubs dress up the deck even more. Order food and drinks at the casual bar or from your chair.
Tip Chill out with cool treat every day from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a different delight each hour. It all begins with frozen drink samplers at noon and ends with frozen grapes at 4 p.m.
Spa
The Spa at Sunset Key is, in a word, spectacular. Infused fruit waters, amazing treatment rooms with your own bathroom and shower, and a totally unexpected bonus--your own private outdoor terrace with lush plants and exotic orchids. It just adds that extra touch of tropical indulgence and raises the bar on the entire experience.
Gym
This fitness center that has it all, and the equipment is top-of-the-line. Treadmills, elliptical, weights, bikes, and circuit machines, plus fruit and water. If you want bottled water, it is available for sale in a machine, otherwise bring your own bottle and fill up or drink from a paper cone.
Dining
Latitudes, the only onsite restaurant, offers postcard-worthy waterfront dining with a focus on fresh seafood. Sit indoors in air-conditioning or outdoors on the sand. At sunset, it’s romantic as hell with flaming Tiki torches and the sky ablaze in color.
You Should Know Latitudes is open to the public for lunch and dinner so make reservations if you want a table. Breakfast is for guests only. There is also a dress code at dinner.
Drinking
Latitudes has a small bar inside and a larger bar outside with water views. There is also a small bar poolside under cover so you won't sweat too much.

Getting Around
Did we mention you’re on an island? Take the ferry to Key West then you can walk to practically everything. Your launch location is right behind the Margaritaville Resort, in the heart of the action. You can also hop in a taxi or a pedi-cab, or rent a bike to see the "quiet side" of Duval Street, about two miles to the east.
Restaurants
Since you’re on an island, you have to take the ferry back to shore to get anywhere. Once you do that, visit Hot Tin Roof (4-minute walk) for fantastic seafood and key lime pie. Half Shell Raw Bar (12-minute walk) is super casual and has good seafood baskets and landlubber options. Love karaoke and good food? Try Two Friends Patio (3-minute walk). From morning (seafood omelets) till night (fresh yellowtail or a burger), their American fare is reasonable and good.
Bars
After you take the ferry to Key West, Sloppy Joe’s (3-minute walk) is the place for music and lots of noise. Hog’s Breath Saloon (1-minute walk) always has live music and cold drinks. Rick’s Bar (3-minute walk) is more of a bar complex, with several drinking establishments to choose from. You can also find slices of pizza.
