Tucked away in a residential area at the ocean's edge, this hotel is big on value but short on style. Ragged Edge draws returning guests who would rather fish off the dock and hoist a brew than loll around in Egyptian cotton sheets. Even those who turn their noses up at the cheap plastic-deck furniture and pine paneling admit that the place has a million-dollar setting, with ocean views all around. There's no beach to speak of, but you can ride a bike across the street to Islamorada Founder's Park, where you'll find a nice little beach and water toys for rent. If a bit of partying puts you off, look elsewhere. Although the rooms are plain-Jane, they are clean and fairly spacious. Ground-floor units have screened porches; upper units have large decks, more windows, and beam ceilings. Pros: oceanfront location; quiet neighborhood; cheap rates. Cons: dated decor; guests can be noisy.
