Although the vintage sign is straight out of a Happy Days rerun, this property has undergone a top-to-bottom transformation while the general layout still has a 1950s feel. The decor is strikingly modern, with white cottage-style furnishings and elegant fabrics. Sunny yellow bedrooms look like pages from a Pottery Barn catalog. Private screened porches lead to a coral-shell oceanfront beach with palm trees bending in the breeze. Families snap up suites in the oceanfront Beach House; couples looking for more privacy head to rooms set back from the beach. The pools—one saltwater, one freshwater—win raves, as do the full kitchens. A 200-foot dock, lighted at night, adds to the resort feel. Pros: spacious rooms; nice kitchens; eye-popping views. Cons: pricey for what you get; beach has rough sand.
