Huge, prehistoric-looking denizens of the not-so-deep, tarpons congregate around the docks by the dozens at Robbie's Marina on Lower Matecumbe Key. Children—and lots of adults—pay $4 to feed them sardines or $1 just to watch. Spend some time hanging out at this authentic Keys community, where you can grab a bite to eat, do a little shopping, or charter a boat.

What a blast this marina is! The tarpon are huge and get airborn. My daughters had a great time.
