Turtle Kraals Review

Named for the kraals, or corrals, where sea turtles were once kept until they went to the cannery, this place calls to mind the island's history. The lunch–dinner menu offers an assortment of marine cuisine that includes seafood enchiladas, mesquite-grilled fish of the day, and mango crab cakes. The slow-cook wood smoker results in wonderfully tender ribs, brisket, mesquite-grilled oysters with Parmesan and cilantro, and mesquite grilled chicken sandwich. The open restaurant overlooks the marina at the Historic Seaport. Turtle races entertain during happy hour on Monday and Friday at 6 pm.

    Turtle Races!

I went on a Thursday night, so unfortunately missed the turtle races. Call ahead and make sure you don't miss them! I got the seafood enchiladas and they were excellent! A must-have if you visit this rustic restaurant on the boardwalk over looking the marina.

    Turtle Kraals Review

During a mid-winter escape week, we opted to dine twice at TK. On both ocassions, the service was efficient and the server quite personable. My partner and I tended to go for the BBQ as the mesquite grill produced an aroma that permeated half block walk from the parking to the restaurant. It's casual--not as funky as one might think--and nicely low-key. I'll give it this: TK can appeal to a variety of diners who might be together. The prices are typical and likely within most families' budgets. Try it; you'll like it.
