Great Itineraries

Great Itineraries

3 Days

Spend your first morning diving or snorkeling at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo. If you aren't certified, sign up for a resort course and you'll be exploring the reefs by the afternoon. Dinner at a bay-side restaurant will give you your first look at a fabulous Keys sunset. On Day 2 get an early start to savor the breathtaking views on the two-hour drive to Key West. Along the way make a stop at the natural-history museum that's part of Crane Point Museum, Nature Center and Historic Site in Marathon. Another worthwhile detour is Bahia Honda State Park on Bahia Honda Key, where you can stretch your legs on a forest trail or snorkel on an offshore reef. Once you arrive in Key West, watch the sunset at one of the island's restaurants. The next morning, stroll Duval Street, visit a museum or two, or take a trolley tour of Old Town.

Spend the first day as you would above, staying overnight in Key Largo. Start Day 2 by renting a kayak and exploring the mangroves of Florida Bay, or taking an ecotour of the sandy islands in Everglades National Park. In the afternoon, head down to Islamorada and visit Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park. Before day's end, make plans for the next day's fishing. Spend the night in Islamorada. After a morning spent with a rod and reel, stop at one of the many restaurants that happily prepare your catch for you. In the afternoon, set off for Key West. Enjoy the sunset celebration at Mallory Square.
