Getting Here and Around in Dry Tortugas National Park
Getting Here and Around
At this writing, the ferryboat Yankee Freedom II departs from a marina in Old Town and does day trips to Garden Key. Key West Seaplane Adventures has half- and full-day trips to the Dry Tortugas, where you can explore Fort Jefferson, built in 1846, and snorkel on the beautiful protected reef. Departing from the Key West airport, the flights include soft drinks and snorkeling equipment for $280 (half day) and $495 (full day), plus there's a $5 (cash only) park fee. If you want to explore the park's other keys, look into renting a boat or hiring a private charter.
