Robert Is Here

Fodor's Review:

Robert Is Here, a remarkable fruit stand, sells vegetables, fresh-fruit milk shakes (the key lime shake is fabulous), 10 flavors of honey, more than 100 flavors of jams and jellies, fresh juices, salad dressings, and some 30 kinds of tropical fruits, including (in season) carambola, lychee, egg fruit, monstera, sapodilla, dragonfruit, genipa, sugar apple, and tamarind. The stand started in 1960, when seven-year-old Robert sat at this spot selling his father's bumper crop of cucumbers. Now Robert ships around the world, and everything is first quality. Seconds are given to needy area families. An odd assortment of animals out back—from goats to emus—adds to the entertainment value. The stand opens at 8 and never closes earlier than 7. It does shut down, however, during September and October.
