Robert Is Here
Robert Is Here Review
This remarkable fruit stand sells vegetables, fresh-fruit milk shakes (try the key lime shake), 10 flavors of honey, more than 100 types of jams and jellies, fresh juices, salad dressings, and some 30 kinds of tropical fruits, including (in season) carambola, lychee, egg fruit, monstera, sapodilla, dragonfruit, genipa, sugar apple, and tamarind. The stand started in 1960, when seven-year-old Robert sat at this spot selling his father's bumper crop of cucumbers. Today, Robert (still on the scene daily with his wife and kids), ships all over the United States and donates seconds to needy area families. An odd assortment of animals out back—from goats to emus—adds entertainment value for kids. Picnic tables, benches, and a waterfall with a koi pond add some serenity to the experience. The stand, on the way to Everglades National Park, opens at 8 am and stays open until at least 7. It shuts down between September and October.

A friend & I are thinking of taking our annual spring break to Sarasoga and Siesta Key.
Can you recommend this or would you recommend somewhere else that might have a tropical island feel?
