Florida's Everglades region covers the southernmost tip of the peninsula from the Gulf of Mexico in the west to Florida Bay in the east. It lies west and south of Miami; the Florida Keys front its Florida Bay to the southeast. On the western side, it lies southeast of Naples and Marco Island. Between the two extremes spreads an undeveloped wilderness of mostly protected federal and government lands and waters that include Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and Biscayne National Park.
