Fodor's Review

Breakfast-food heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post commissioned a Hollywood set designer to create Ocean Boulevard's famed Mar-a-Lago, a 114-room, 110,000-square-foot Mediterranean-revival palace. Its 75-foot Italianate tower is visible from many areas of Palm Beach and from across the Intracoastal Waterway in West Palm Beach. Its notable owner, President Donald Trump, has turned it into a private membership club and has realized Marjorie Post's dream of turning the estate into a presidential retreat. Tourists have to enjoy the view from the car window or bicycle seat, but even the gates are impressive.
