Hutchinson Island (Jensen Beach)

The down-to-earth town of Jensen Beach, occupying the core of the island, stretches across both sides of the Indian River. Between late April and August more than 600 turtles come here to nest along the town's Atlantic beach. Area residents have taken pains to curb the runaway development that has created the commercial crowding found to the north and south, although some high-rises have popped up along the shore.
