Orlando Discounts and Deals
DIS. Though Disney doesn't always publicize it, it does offer many of its own discounts and promotions, all of which the independent website DIS compiles and shares. The site also includes discounts and promotions for the Universal parks and properties. www.wdwinfo.com/discounts.html
Entertainment Travel Editions. Pick up local coupon books. This company has one for around $35 with discounts on rental cars, admission fees, and meals. 888/231-7283 www.entertainment.com.
Mousesavers.com. This website aims to give the scoop on ways to score discounts on all things Disney: for the most part it doesn't offer specific discounts, but it does provide great advice on where you can ferret out your own. In a few cases, such as with its recommended non-Disney hotels, Mousesavers has negotiated added perks like free breakfasts. The site also lists many discounts for a long list of other Orlando parks and attractions, including all the biggies. www.mousesavers.com.
Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Orlando CVB sells park ticket plans and offers the free Magicard, which provides discounts for many attractions, restaurants, and stores. 407/363-5872 or 800/972-3304 www.visitorlando.com/discounts-and-tickets.
Shades of Green Resort. If you're active-duty or retired military, National Guard, Army Reserve, a disabled veteran, foreign military stationed with U.S. armed forces, or a Department of Defense civilian with military ID, you can also stay at the on-site Shades of Green Resort for a fraction of what it costs to stay at other Disney resorts. You can also buy up to three rooms so nonmilitary members of your party can stay with you.
Members of the military are eligible to purchase discounted and tax-free park tickets, including the Magic Your Way Stars and Stripes Pass. The resort's ticket office is open 8 am to 9 pm. (You can buy these tickets at the main entry gate, too, but tax will then be included.) Shades of Green sells heavily discounted tickets to Orlando's other attractions, including both Universal parks, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Kennedy Space Center, and Wet 'n Wild. Military personnel and their spouses can also buy tickets for a select number of nonmilitary guests. You do not need to stay at Shades of Green resort (but you do need to be staying at a Disney on-property resort) to qualify for any of its attractions' discounts. 407/824-1403 www.shadesofgreen.org.Updated: 09-2013
