The premise here is that Mama Della is a middle-age Italian housewife who has opened up her home as a restaurant. "Mama" is always on hand (this is a coveted job for middle-aged actresses who do a good Italian accent), strolling among the tables and making small talk. The food, which is served family style, is no fantasy -- it's excellent. The menu has Italian traditions like chicken cacciatore, veal parmigiana, and spaghetti with sirloin meatballs or Bolognese sauce, and all of the pastas are made in-house. A particularly good bet is grilled swordfish in garlic-lemon sauce. Tiramisu and white chocolate praline crunch cake with raspberry sorbet are sure bets for dessert.
