$-$$$, Latin American, Central Orlando
Fodor's Review:
On what used to be Orlando's most popular tourist strip -- Orange Blossom Trail -- this Columbian-owned and -operated restaurant offers some of the city's best South American cuisine. Big-screen televisions beam high-energy salsa videos into the dining room, but the reason to visit is not the music but the quality cuisine. If you're unfamiliar with the entrées, try a sampler platter with grilled pork, beef, and chicken. Also worth noting is the cerdo asado, grilled pork loin served with black beans and rice, and ropa vieja, a dish popular in both Cuban and Columbian cuisine that consists of shredded beef and grilled peppers and onions served over rice. Other worthy choices include the cazuela de mariscos, a seafood stew with plenty of scallops, clams, mussels, and lobster, and the chicken soup, a hearty bargain at $2.50. For desert, go for the mil hojas, a multilayered pastry with a creamy filling. A great feature in the restaurant is a Columbia bakery, which begins selling fresh pastries at 8:30 AM.
