A demonstration of the use of movie sound effects, this show uses many of the gadgets created by sound master Jimmy MacDonald, who became the voice of Mickey Mouse during the 1940s and invented some 20,000 sound effects during his 45 years at Walt Disney Studios. Most qualify as gizmos -- a metal sheet that, when rattled, sounds like thunder; a box of sand for footsteps on gravel; and other noises made from nails, straw, mud, leather, and other ordinary components. The premise of the show is that you will help Drew Carey, who portrays an undercover cop, find out who smuggled the diamonds from the snow globe. To do so, you don headphones to follow Carey's progress and to hear the many sounds that go into the production of a movie or television show. Most of the show takes place in utter and complete darkness and it's very loud -- preschoolers will be frightened. Carey's bumbling detective provides plenty of laughs for adults and older kids.
