Fodor's Review:
No magic carpet is required as you enter Morocco -- just walk through the pointed arches of the Bab Boujouloud gate and you'll find yourself exploring the mysterious North African country of Morocco. The arches are ornamented with beautiful wood carvings and encrusted with intricate mosaics made of 9 tons of handmade, hand-cut tiles; 19 native artisans were sent to Epcot to install them and to create the dusty stucco walls that seem to have withstood centuries of sandstorms. Look closely and you'll see that every tile has a small crack or some other imperfection, and no tile depicts a living creature -- in deference to the Islamic belief that only Allah creates perfection and life.
Koutoubia Minaret, a replica of the prayer tower in Marrakesh, acts as Morocco's landmark. Winding alleyways -- each corner bursting with carpets, brasses, leatherwork, and other North African craftsmanship -- lead to a beautifully tiled fountain and lush gardens. The full-service restaurant, Marrakesh, is a highlight here if you enjoy eating couscous and roast lamb while distracted by a lithesome belly dancer. And one of the hottest fast-food spots on the Epcot dining scene is Tangierine Café, with tasty Mediterranean specialties like chicken kabobs, lentil and couscous salads, and freshly baked Moroccan bread.
