On the Rollins College campus, the Cornell Fine Arts Museum houses the oldest collection of art in Florida, its first paintings acquired in 1896. The collection includes more than 6,000 works, from Italian Renaissance paintings to 19th- and 20th-century American and European paintings, decorative arts, and sculpture. Artists represented include William Merritt Chase, Childe Hassam, and Louis Comfort Tiffany. In addition, outstanding special exhibitions are scheduled throughout the year. Outside the museum, a small but charming garden overlooks Lake Virginia.
