BCC Planetarium & Observatory

Fodor's Review:

Based at Brevard Community College, this planetarium and observatory has one of Florida's largest public-access telescopes. The 24-inch telescope allows visitors to view objects in the solar system and deep space. The on-campus planetarium has two theaters, one showing a changing roster of nature documentaries, the other hosting laser-light shows as well as changing planetarium shows. Science Quest Exhibit Hall has hands-on exhibits, including scales calibrated to other planets (Vegas-era Elvis would have weighed just 62 pounds on the moon). The International Hall of Space Explorers displays exhibits on space travel. Show schedules and opening hours may vary, so it's best to call ahead.

  • Cost: Observatory and exhibits free; film or planetarium show $7; both shows $11; laser show $7, triple combination $16
  • Open: Call for schedule.
