Fodor's Expert Review EFSC Planetarium & Observatory

Cocoa Observatory

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

Based at Eastern Florida State College, this planetarium and observatory has one of Florida's largest public-access telescopes. The 24-inch telescope allows visitors to view objects in the solar system and deep space. The on-campus planetarium has two theaters, one showing a changing roster of nature documentaries, the other hosting laser-light shows as well as changing planetarium shows. Science Quest Exhibit Hall has hands-on exhibits, including scales calibrated to other planets (Vegas-era Elvis would have weighed just 62 pounds on the moon). Show schedules and opening hours may vary, so call ahead.
