Taberna del Caballo

Taberna del Caballo Review

Contemporary tapas, chilled sangria, and servers in 18th-century costumes make the Taberna del Caballo, opened in February 2012, an excellent addition to the St. Augustine dining scene. Built on the foundations of the de Hita House and the Gonzalez House, the restaurant is connected to the newly renovated Colonial Quarter on St. George Street (formerly known as the Spanish Quarter). In addition to sangria, wine, and beer, the Taberna serves appetitzers, salads, sandwiches, a modest number of entrées, and desserts. All sandwiches are served on authentic Cuban bread from Segunda Central Bakery in Ybor City—the mojo pork panini and Cuban are both outstanding. There's additional seating in a lovely courtyard.
