Bistro Aix Review

When a Jacksonville restaurant can make Angelinos feel like they haven't left home, that's saying a lot. With its slick leather booths, 1940s brickwork, olive drapes, and intricate marbled globes, Bistro Aix (pronounced "X") is just that place. Regulars can't get enough of the creamy onion soup or escargot appetizers, prosciutto and goat cheese salad, or entrées like oak-grilled fish Aixoise, steak frites, or mushroom and fontina wood-fired pizza. Most items (salads included) come in full or lighter-appetite portions, and you'll definitely want to save room for dessert. Aix's in-house pastry team ensures no sweet tooth leaves unsatisfied, with offerings such as profiteroles (mini cream puffs filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with chocolate and caramel sauce) and warm chocolate banana walnut bread pudding. Call for preferred seating.

    Bistro Aix Review

    First, do not expect this place to honor your OpenTable reservation - we made one 3 weeks in advance and still had to wait over 2 hours past our time and never got a table. Not very well run establishment at all and I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Go any where else and you won't have to hang around the bar with guys in t-shirts and jeans whose girl friends cuss worse than sailors.

    Possibly the best in JAX

    I can't disagree with the previous reviewer more. Chef Tom was nominated for the regional James Beard Chef award. The food is outstanding. We sit at the Chef's tasting table (actually more like sitting at a bar). The attention to detail of each dish is surprising, we watched each dish prepared that evening.
    The menu is creative and the flavors are layered together to maximize enjoyment. Our favorite in JAX!

    Overpriced and Underwhelming

    Tables are too close together; waitstaff is snobbish and prices are inflated. This is not among our "to do" dining establishments in JAX. One can do much better elsewhere and have individuals wait on you who actually seem to care.
