LPGA International. This is where aspiring women professionals compete to earn a place on the LPGA Tour. The qualifying tournament—Q-school—is held every January, but the meticulously maintained courses are open to the public year-round. The Jones Course, designed by Rees Jones, is a links-style course with large, fast, undulating greens. Fairways are tighter on the Hills Course, designed by Arthur Hills, with long, difficult par-5s due to long carries and well-guarded greens. Wildlife is abundant, with bald eagles, owls, and deer as well as rattlesnakes and gators (some quite large). The course has driving, putting, and short-game practice areas, and an excellent restaurant, Malcolm's. 1000 Champions Dr., Daytona Beach, Florida, 32124. 386/523–2001; www.lpgainternational.com. $74.
