Fodor's Review

Opened in 1912, this classic holds Miami's oldest liquor license: No. 0001. Upstairs, in a space that was occupied by a speakeasy during Prohibition, local and national blues bands perform nightly. There is excellent bar food, a dinner menu, and a selection of single-malt scotches, bourbons, and cigars. This is the hangout of grizzled journalists, bohemians en route to or from nowhere, and club kids seeking a way station before the real parties begin. Live blues, R&B,

and jazz bands are on tap, along with food and drink, seven days a week. If you like your food and drink the way you like your blues—gritty, honest, and unassuming—then this vintage joint will quickly earn your respect.
