One of South Beach's best deals for budget travelers, Paradiso has huge rooms with kitchens and a charming tropical courtyard with benches for hanging out at all hours. There's even another smaller courtyard on the other side of the rooms. Peeking out from a sea of tropical foliage, the hotel seems at first to be a rather unassuming piece of art deco architecture. But for all its simplicity, value shines bright. Rooms have polished hardwood floors, French doors, and quirky
wrought-iron furniture. They are well suited for extended visits—discounts begin at 10% for a week's stay.

I don't think I'll be able to trust Fodors recommendations again! We tried this place last month while in Miami. It was really awful. We moved after the first night. There are many other hotels in the same area that are a MUCH better value. This hotel is a converted apt, so it is roomy compared to most hotel rooms and has a kitchen. (The kitchen and bathroom are really small.) You would really have to be desparate for a kitchen to make this
place okay. Everything is so dirty! The furnishings were a wreck and filthy. We wouldn't sit on the couch, or use the coffee pot, or dishes. Another problem was they have no non-smoking rooms (ever). Even though, I had requested a non-smoking room, they took my reservation and then informed us on arrival that all of the rooms are smoking rooms. They insisted the rooms were cleaned so well, that it wouldn't be an issue. I had a headache by the next morning from the heavy smoke smell. Also, the air conditioner is very noisy. It looked like a drug addict's flop house and we couldn't wait to get out of there.

I was here for 3 nights in January of 2001. The roome are very stylish but the kitchen had yucky dirt and other quantities of unknown accumulations aroud the stove etc. Flimsy security with glass back doors. The music from nexr door(?) was so loud I almost cried.

This little place looks so cute and charming that you can hardly believe it is in South Beach. At first glance, it looks like it would be a very quiet and peaceful place to stay. However, during a visit 3 years ago (1997), I found this place to be full of very loud 20-something party-ers who made a lot of noise all night long. Polished hardwood floors and french doors cannot make up for the lack of a good night's rest.
