$-$$$, Mid-Beach
Fodor's Review:
The neighborhood around the Traymore, a basic seven-story deco hotel, has gotten pretty fancy. Two buildings down the very swank Gansevoort Hotel South is opening within a condo complex called Paradiso. If that's paradise, the Traymore is purgatory: average rooms, basic service, and virtually no style. Like some other revived art-deco hotels, this one lost some of its character in the clean-up. But the fair prices and good location continue to attract visitors, mainly Europeans. Bottom line: if you're looking for an oceanfront hotel that won't break your budget, you've found it. Pros: Walking distance to the heart of South Beach, inexpensive, and beachfront. Cons: Average rooms, not chic.
