Like the rest of Miami, this botanical garden is a work in progress. The community is working to restore the site, which was founded in the 1960s but neglected for decades. Already this 5-acre patch of tropical foliage sandwiched between the huge Miami Beach Convention Center and the Holocaust Memorial has become both a tranquil oasis just blocks from frenetic South Beach and a venue for cultural events. There's also a Japanese garden and gift shop.
