Catalina Hotel & Beach Club

Fodor's Review:

Need an inexpensive base where you can party in Miami? The Catalina will pick you up from the airport with its free shuttle, give you free drinks every night from 7 to 8, and get you in the mood with its red-shag carpets and funky red-and-white lounges, one of which has two-story glass windows and monumental sheer drapes. When it's time to move on, head across the street to South Beach's hottest bars. If you don't wake up with too bad of a hangover, hop on the hotel's complimentary bikes to explore South Beach. Otherwise stake out a beach chair for a little sun-rejuvenation time. In short, this is the best budget party hotel in the city. Rooms are all white and sparsely furnished, with Tempur-Pedic mattresses and Italian Mascioni sheets. No. 400 is special – it hovers above Collins Avenue and is washed in light. Perhaps the staff is too laid-back. Service can be spotty and you sometimes feel like the bartenders are running the place. Pros: Free drinks, free bikes, free airport shuttle, and good people-watching. Cons: $15 wireless fee, service not a high priority, and loud.
