When Donald Trump came to town, it was clear the neglected north beach area of Sunny Isles was bound for a resurgence. While no longer the standard for pure luxury, the Trump still comes close. What makes this 32-story oceanfront tower different is that it has panache, New York-style, without being snooty. Room design is understated and sophisticated, in muted tans and browns. And it's bustling. Family-friendly recreation includes a grotto-style pool with waterfalls and rock formations -- definitely the best pool for kids in Sunny Isles. Parents can watch their kids from the expansive pool deck, if they can tear their eyes away from superb ocean vistas. Pros: Fun pool, surprisingly casual, and lobby shops. Con: Long waits for crowded elevators.
